Glen Allen – Richmond native and local businessman John McGuire announced he is seeking the Republican nomination for the House of Delegates, representing the 56th District. The district comprises all of Louisa County and portions of Goochland, Henrico and Spotsylvania Counties.
Speaking to a packed room at a local restaurant in Glen Allen, McGuire shared his life’s story and how it has prepared him to serve the citizens of the 56th District. Abandoned by his mother on a Richmond street corner at the age of 5, McGuire enlisted in the U.S. Navy after completing High School. While in the service, he spent ten years as a member of the U.S. Navy SEAL Team. In 1998, he founded SEAL Team PT in Richmond, and is an internationally known motivational speaker focusing on leadership. McGuire was introduced at tonight’s event by his brother, Louisa County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rusty McGuire.
McGuire shared with his audience how being raised in the foster care system, serving his country as member of the Navy SEAL Team, and being a successful small businessman has uniquely prepared him to serve his community as a member of the House of Delegates. "My life experiences allow me to view life from many different perspectives. I want to apply these perspectives as a member of the House of Delegates so that All members of our community are represented in the legislature."
McGuire is running in the June 13th Republican Primary.
